About the Company:

Uganda Revenue Authority is a semi-autonomous Government Agency under the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development that is mandated to assess, collect and account for Government Tax and Non-Tax Revenue.

 

Job Summary:  Overseeing and ensuring the effective maintenance and repair and over all suitability of the URA’s fleet of vehicles.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Coordinate the URA fleet repairs and maintenance to ensure the fleet is in good mechanical condition.

  • Conduct pre and post-physical examination of vehicle mechanical defects as well as maintain a database of all repairs for the whole Fleet of vehicles.
  • Reconciliation of payments to service providers and ensuring value for money.
  • Contract management for maintenance and repair for Fleet.
  • Ensure adherence to PPDA requirements during the quotation, ordering, contracting, delivery of services and goods for fleet maintenance.
  • Ensure URA’s adherence to statutory requirements for vehicle maintenance for URA vehicles.
  • Ensure URA’s adherence to statutory requirements for vehicle insurance for URA vehicles
  • Maintain a database of service orders raised and old mechanical parts
  • Generate monthly repairs and maintenance reports and submit them to the supervisor

Manage service providers and vendors, ensure compliance with regulations and safety protocols, train staff on maintenance best practices, and oversee efficient, high-quality repairs to minimize vehicle downtime

  • Manage and maintain good relations with external stakeholders like Ministry of Works & Transport, repair shops, insurance providers, parts suppliers etc.
  • Evaluate and mange contracts and any works for vehicle maintenance.
  • Ensure that all maintenance practices comply with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Promote and ensure adherence to safety procedures and protocols in all maintenance activities.
  • Provide training and guidance to staff on best practices for vehicle maintenance.
  • Ensure repairs are conducted efficiently and to a high standard, minimizing vehicle downtime.




Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

Essential Requirements

  • An Honors Bachelor’s degree or its equivalency in either Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Mechanical Engineering from a recognized academic institution.
  • At least (2) two years of experience in fleet management in a reputable organization
  • A valid driving permit with at least class B (04 years).
  • An impeccable record of integrity

Desirable Requirements

  • Training in Fleet management
  • A certification in Automobiles maintenance and repairs
  • Experience with using Fleet Management Systems and any Enterprise Resource Planning system.

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of the Traffic and Road Safety Act,
  • Knowledge of Computerized Fleet Management Systems
  • Knowledge in handling Insurance matters and incident management.

Special Skills and Attributes

  • The incumbent should have good Communication skills
  • The incumbent should have good interpersonal customer care skills
  • The incumbent should have good crisis management skills
  • S/he should be able to demonstrate Analytical and decision-making skills
