About the Company:

Uganda Revenue Authority is a semi-autonomous Government Agency under the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development that is mandated to assess, collect and account for Government Tax and Non-Tax Revenue.

 

Job Summary:   To offer tax administration services aimed at improving voluntary taxpayer compliance.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide satisfactory client service and enhance voluntary compliance

  • Onboard and monitor taxpayers across the compliance cycle
  • Validate taxpayer declarations and monitor on-time filing and payments
  • Verify Taxpayer Refund claims
  • Carry out tax field inspections and enforcement activities
  • Conduct compliance audits
  • Promote voluntary tax compliance, provide client support and enhance stakeholder engagement
  • Prepare periodical reports as required under department guidelines
  • Enhance business processes and support system improvements
  • Review policy needs and generate policy proposals to enhance voluntary taxpayer compliance

Improve voluntary compliance

  • Monitor economic activity in the field to foster Voluntary compliance in registration, declarations and payments.
  • Implement initiatives identified in the compliance improvement plan.
  • Maintain the accuracy of the Taxpayer ledgers
  • Monitor and manage taxpayers’ arrears portfolio
  • Implement Digital Tracking Solution (DTS) and monitor taxpayer compliance.
  • Implement Electronic Fiscal Receipting and Invoicing Solution (EFRIS) and monitor taxpayer compliance.

Conduct data analysis to improve taxpayer compliance 

  • Analyze industrial trends and design risk mitigation strategies.
  • Compile and collate data to support Compliance Management initiatives.
  • Identify risks regarding the compliance of the taxpayers considered under the deemed VAT provision and liaise with the respective tax stations to ensure enforcement.




Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

Qualifications

  • An honors Bachelor’s degree or its equivalency in Economics, Education, Geology, Bio-Chemistry, Business Analysis, Business Computing, Information Technology, Law, Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, Commerce, Engineering, Science or Business-related course from a recognized academic institution.
  • At least three (03) years of working experience in the areas of tax advisory, banking, digital economy, insurance, extractive industries, manufacturing, accounting, financial services, business analysis, and big data analytics.
  • An impeccable record of integrity

Desirable Requirements   

  • Professional qualifications in any of the areas of Tax Accounting, Law, Information Technology and Systems Audit.
  • Training in any of the areas of Customer Care, Data Analysis, Audit, Fraud Examination, Business Analysis, or Project Management.
  • Proficiency in Chinese, French, Swahili or Hindi.

Knowledge   

  • Knowledge of Tax Laws
