About Organisation:
The Security Council, by its resolution 1990 PDF Document of 27 June 2011, responded to the urgent situation in Sudan’s Abyei region by establishing the United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA). The Security Council was deeply concerned by the violence, escalating tensions and population displacement. The operation will monitor the flashpoint border between north and south, and is authorized to use force in protecting civilians and humanitarian workers in Abyei. UNISFA’s establishment came after the Government of Sudan and the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) reached an agreement in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, to demilitarize Abyei and let Ethiopian troops to monitor the area.
Job Summary: This position is located in the Centralized Warehouse Unit of the United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA), duty station Entebbe, Uganda. The Supply Assistant will report to the Chief Centralized Warehouse Unit or to the designated official.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: Under the overall supervision of the Chief Centralized Warehouse Unit or the designated official, the Supply Assistant will be responsible for the following duties:
- Perform warehouse activities including receiving and inspection (R&I), storage, maintenance, and issuing of stocks to the Centralized Warehouse customers and maintaining accurate transactions history for all receipts and issues.
- Receive and inspect of all delivered materials on behalf of the mission in a timely manner and maintain accurate records to enable the vendor payment.
- Coordinate the incoming shipments with MOVCON Transport Management Unit.
- Conduct virtual goods receipt depending on the incoterm, if requested.
- Maintain complete, reliable, and accurate R&I records for shipments received – Physical Inspection of materials and equipment jointly with Technical Units to ensure compliance with the PO specifications
- Ensure all items received for storage are labeled, properly arranged in the storage shelves/bins and correctly entered into the UMOJA ERP;
- Update bin locations of inventory and equipment at the warehouse;
- Update the status of assets as reported through issue vouchers, transfer vouchers, etc;
- Perform cycle counting program of inventories, if required.
- Ensure consistency in Umoja against physical inspections and cycle counts;
- Perform assigned tasks including distribution planning, record keeping, packing of supplies, movement of cargo and delivery of goods.
- Prepare Cargo Movement Request (CMR) for transportation of goods and supplies.
- Perform tasks and duties involving any labor work required.
- Perform warehouse housekeeping on a continuous basis;
- Perform 100% physical count of equipment and expendable stocks in accordance with Mission’ policy;
- Operate MHE (i.e. forklift) to move pallets and containers, when required;
- Identify inventory to be written-off and coordinates Property Disposal for movement of written-off items, based on usage patterns and ABC analysis;
- Support implementation of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) and environmental policies in all warehouse operations;
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Warehouse Supervisor.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
Education:
- The United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA) Supply Assistant must hold a High school diploma or equivalent. Required.
- A valid driving license is required.
- Training in software applications such as Word and Excel is required.
Work Experience:
- A minimum of three (3) years of progressively experience in supply chain, warehouse operations or combined experience on property control, assets management, property disposal, supply and logistics is required.
- Experience in operating fork-lift is desirable.
- Experience in the use of SAP databases is desirable.
- Languages: fluency in oral and written English is required.
