Our first product is a line of pay-as-you-go electric pressure cooker products designed specifically for sub-Saharan African markets.

 

Job Summary:  The Supply Chain Specialist will  coordinate various aspects of PowerUP’s supply chain to ensure effective optimization of operations and meeting of customer demands.  They will oversee the ordering and coordinate the production of e-cooking devices, ensuring that the process is rightfully followed. They will coordinate both midstream and downstream logistics  for successful distribution  of products  to distributors across Africa. They will oversee PowerUP’s product inventory management and distribution and support sales to ensure that targets are met. Key deliverables include timely delivery products to customers, efficient and optimized ordering, production, logistics, distribution and inventory management to hit sales and distribution targets.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Order and Production management.

  • Establish and follow up on customer demand forecasts.
  • Continuously streamline processes for order processing, procurement, and demand fulfillment to increase productivity and meet customer expectations.
  • Maintain both distributor and internal order trackers.
  • Support production with the contract manufacturer  to ensure timely manufacturing of products and address any issues that arise.

Quality Control Management

  • Conduct incoming quality control tests and procedures on finished products.to ensure that they meet specified criteria.
  • Maintain detailed records and reports of Quality Control inspection activities
  • Investigate finished product quality issues to determine root cause for continuous improvement in manufacturing.

Logistics and Distribution management

  • Coordinate transportation and logistics activities, including arranging shipments, managing freight costs, and tracking delivery schedules.
  • Analyse the freight forwarders to optimize delivery routes, transit times and cost effectiveness.

Inventory Management

  • Develop and implement effective inventory control strategies to optimize stock levels, minimize carrying costs, and reduce stock outs or overstocks and meet customer demands.
  • Implement inventory control procedures to minimize waste and reduce costs.
  • Conduct regular inventory audits and reconcile discrepancies.

Process Management and Documentation.

  • Identify inefficiencies in the supply chain process and propose and implement improvements to enhance operational efficiency and reduce costs
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards related to supply chain operations
  • Analyze supply chain data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Generate regular reports on key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Prepare and submit required documentation for audits and inspections.




Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • 2-3 years of experience in a supply chain role (example: Handling procurement, inventory, logistics and distribution management).
  • Detail oriented project management and akin to process improvement and optimization.
  • Excellent communication, writing and organization skills.
  • Data analysis and visualization in excel. Ability to use advanced tools is an added advantage.
  • Experience in working with off-shore manufacturing and handling global logistics, shipping, customs clearance and distribution is an added advantage.
  • Professional certification such as APICS (e.g., CPIM, CSCP/CSCMP/CIPS) is an added advantage.
  • University degree in a related field.
