About the Company:

Zembo Motorcycles SMC Limited is leading the African transition to electric mobility. Based in Kampala, Uganda, we provide affordable (PayGo) electric two-wheelers to low-income motorcycle-taxi drivers, most known locally as “boda-boda ”drivers. We offer a battery swapping service to our clients, enabling to swap within minutes at any of our stations.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Installation Planning: Collaborate with project managers and stakeholders to develop installation plans, including site assessments, electrical design, equipment procurement, and budgeting.
  • Battery Swap Cabinet Installation: Lead the installation and commissioning of high-voltage 3-phase battery swap cabinets at designated locations, ensuring compliance with electrical codes and safety regulations.
  • Solar Integration: Design and implement solar power systems to support the operation of battery swap cabinets, maximizing energy efficiency and reducing reliance on the grid.
  • Health and Safety: Implement robust health and safety protocols to protect workers, contractors, and the public during installation and maintenance activities, including risk assessments and safety training.
  • Quality Assurance: Conduct quality inspections and testing to ensure the reliability and performance of installed equipment, addressing any issues promptly to minimize downtime.
  • Maintenance and Troubleshooting: Develop preventive maintenance schedules and procedures for battery swap cabinets, and provide troubleshooting support to resolve electrical faults and issues.
  • Training and Documentation: Train our technicians and operators on proper installation, maintenance, and operation procedures, and maintain comprehensive documentation for future reference.




Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical engineering, with a focus on high-voltage/power systems.
  • Familiarity with health and safety regulations and best practices, particularly in the context of electrical installations.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Professionalism –maintains a professional approach based on ethics and Zembo values
  • Integrity, honesty, and ethics- ensures ethical practices and integrity to protect Zembo from reputational risk
  • Communication Skills
  • Customer orientation-is customer focused striking a solid balance between external and internal customer orientation
  • Resilience – can withstand strategic and operational challenges and maintain momentum
  • Emotional Intelligence – manages emotions in a mature and composed manner as expected of a leader
