About Organisation:

Partners in Population and Development Africa Regional Office (PPD ARO) is part of the Global PPD which is a southern-led and southern-run Inter-Governmental alliance of developing countries, that was founded during the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD) held in Cairo, Egypt in 1994. PPD was founded to expand and strengthen South-South collaboration between and among the developing countries in the field of reproductive health, population and development in the context of implementation of the ICPD agenda. PPD has a membership of 27 developing countries, 15 of which are in Africa.

 

Job Summary:   PPD ARO in partnership with Africa Institute for Development Policy (AFIDEP) is implementing the Advance Domestic Health Financing (ADHF) project in four countries of Kenya, Zambia, Uganda and Malawi. We are looking for a qualified person to take up the role of a Programme Officer, based in Kampala, with a minimum of seven years of professional experience in the field of health or/and development, acquired within the public sector, NGO, UN, or any other international organizations.



Key Duties and Responsibilities:   As a Programme Officer you will;

  • Contribute to managing designated ADHF project components including preparing budgets, work plans and reports;
  • Establish new, and maintain on-going partnerships with national, regional and international advocacy groups to deliver the ADHF project agenda;
  • Design and implement interventions for collaborative inter-country exchange in the areas of reproductive health, health financing, population and development;
  • Design and implement communications, branding and policy engagement activities
  • Co-manage the organization’s communication platforms including updating the website and social media communication channels: including planning and generating content, delivering events, sourcing and producing blog posts, writing and editing publications. and online and social media engagement that cut across all the Organization’s activities and projects.
  • Assist in organizing inter-country meetings/workshops and collaborative South-South learning activities;
  • Support, establish and maintain collaborative relationships with the organization’s partners, including other research organizations, academia, government, media, civil society etc.. to optimize proposal development, project implementation and enhance PPD ARO’s brand.
  • Scan/Scope for relevant calls for proposals/expressions of interest and concepts notes, and generate summaries for quick decision-making
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the Regional Director.

 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

Academic qualifications

  • A minimum of a Masters’ degree in the field of Public Health, Health Economics. Demography or related Social Science discipline. A qualification in French, Communications and Public relations will be an added advantage.
  • At least seven years of professional experience in the field of health or/and development, acquired within the public sector, NGO, UN, or any other international organizations.
