About the Company:
DFCU Bank is a fast growing commercial bank offering a variety of innovative products and services. DFCU Limited was started by the Commonwealth Development Corporation (CDC) of the United Kingdom and the Government of Uganda through the Uganda Development Corporation (UDC) under the name of Development Finance Company of Uganda Limited. Later restructuring brought in DEG (of Germany) and International Finance Corporation (IFC) as equal partners with CDC and UDC, each having a 25% stake in the company. Its objective was to support long-term development projects whose financing needs and risk did not appeal to the then existing financial commercial lending institutions.
Job Summary: Reporting to the Senior Manager Project Management Office, the Program Manager will be responsible for managing the implementation of the planned projects to transform the Bank into a digital and process-oriented operation aimed at improving customer satisfaction.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage the different project managers and teams assigned for the implementation of change initiative projects.
- Manage the allocated projects to ensure they are delivered on time, scope, and quality within budget and meet the objectives set.
- Implement a well-defined project management process or methodology that utilizes appropriate toolsets and a pool of experienced and competent Project Managers.
- Team management including undertaking the mandatory performance reviews, adequate staffing, and coaching.
- Regular monitoring to ensure that the approved change initiatives are adopted within the organization.
- Develop and maintain project documentation for reference.
- Reviews project activities for compliance with procedures and standards.
- Produce consolidated reports, including milestone summaries, key issues, risks, benefits, and a summary of costs incurred.
- Integrate change management activities into project plans to improve the success of projects that are implemented by the Bank.
- Define and measure success metrics and monitor change processes arising out of Bank projects, process reviews and other change initiatives.
- Engage/manage stakeholders to build transitional plans, complete business change readiness activities and transform behaviours which will support the business through the transformation process.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer science, Information Technology, Business Computing, Commerce, Accounting or Business Statistics or another related field.
- Master of Business Administration (MBA) is an added advantage.
- Project Management certification (e.g., PMP, Prince2).
- Agile methodology/SAFe certification is an advantage.
- Adept at Financial Technology.
- Experience implementing CAPEX projects in the banking or telecommunications sectors.
- A minimum of 10 years of program Management or an equivalent of 7 experience of Project Management experience in a similar working environment, a Banking environment is an added advantage. Experience in telecommunications is also acceptable.
- Experience managing C-suite teams.
- Strong negotiation skills.
- Proven project management capabilities.
- Effective people management skills.
- High attention to detail.
- Self-motivated and driven.
