The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), an impartial, neutral and independent humanitarian organisation. Having its headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland, the ICRC is given its mandate by the Geneva Conventions to protect victims of international and internal armed conflicts.
Job Summary: The Dispatcher ensures smooth running and economic use of vehicles under a small/medium structure and responsible for organizing and planning the drivers’ duties and schedule. He keeps tracking on all vehicle’s movement using the ICRC Dispatch module and GSAT-track monitoring system, regular reporting on fuel consumption of vehicles & generators. He ensures maintenance and repairs on ICRC vehicles and other logistics equipment in accordance with ICRC standards.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Dispatch Management
- Ensures that all vehicles are in compliance with ICRC and
- national rules in terms of third-party and casco insurance.
- Monitors, organizes, and maximizes the efficiency of the carpool to support the delegation’s operations by coordinating travels.
- Test drive new vehicle users and give them induction on vehicle usage and ICRC policy governing vehicle use.
Maintenance and Inventory Management
- Ensures regular service & repairs on vehicles and generators
- is completed on time by the validated service providers.
- Reports malfunctions and maintenance issues with vehicles & generators to the Logistics Country Manager and takes initiative to resolve these issues.
- Ensures regular check of first Aid kits, tools kits and other essential accessories of vehicles.
- Manages and carries out controls on spare parts inventory and fuel supplies.
Safety and security
- Enforces the general rules and regulations of safe driving.
- Provides guidance and support for drivers in case of accident and acts according to ICRC and regulatory guidelines in collaboration with the Logistics Country Manager.
- Briefs the drivers about security situations and routes to use for the field trips.
- Follows the vehicles checklist before departure/upon arrival of field missions.
- Monitors the GSAT-track vehicle monitoring system and follows up on alerts for resolution.
Database Management
- Acts as the administrator of the Fleet wave database, recording information relating to refuelling, maintenance, accidents, insurance, drivers, and vehicle users. S/He uses the database to generate reports and takes corrective actions of the items flagged by the system.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Professional school diploma or degree in Automotive or Mechanical Engineering
- Two to three years of relevant working experience in a multi-cultural humanitarian environment.
- Familiarity with all-terrain vehicles including maintenance and VHF radio.
- Good command (spoken and written) of English
- Good computer skills.
- Driving license Category B.
