Watoto Childcare Ministries, a ministry of Watoto Church aims at raising the next generation of godly transformational leaders and empowering the vulnerable by providing holistic care to over 3000 babies and children,1,300 mothers and Neighborhood women in 3 villages in Suubi, Bbira and Laminadera ,2 babies homes in Suubi and Gulu town and 3 Neighborhood centers in Kampala, Gulu and Juba, South Sudan.

 

Job Summary: We are seeking to recruit an Executive Director to provide leadership, supervision and carry overall responsibility for effective ministry to vulnerable children and women within Watoto villages and the communities.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Oversee Community Care function

  • Provide overall responsibility and accountability for the performance of the community care function.
  • Lead the development of strategies for each team aligned to the overall ministry vison and mission.
  • Lead in the preparation of annual work plans and budgets.
  • Oversee the implementation of community care activities and plans.
  • Undertake ongoing and periodic evaluation of activities and results designed to transform the lives of vulnerable children and women identified for support.
  • Report to the leadership team, relevant boards and governance structure on the progress, results and impact of the community care ministry.
  • Represent community care in external fora (government and other stakeholder fora).

Development and Implementation of Strategy

  • Participate in the development of the strategic vision, mission and plan of Watoto Childcare Ministries.
  • Participate in supporting and overseeing the implementation of the strategic plan of Watoto childcare and its programs.
  • Participate in leadership’s on-going decisions.
  • Participate in the day to day running of the ministry as a member of the leadership team.
  • Participate in the evaluation of the strategy of the Ministry.

Team development

  • Participate in the recruitment of Team Leaders.
  • Set the performance targets with Team leaders under community care function.
  • Appraise the performance of Team Leaders on an ongoing basis and annually.
  • Identify capacity needs of team leaders and develop appropriate interventions to address them through mentoring, coaching or training.
  • Identify, develop and manage the performance of staff to ensure that people with the right skills and motivations are in the right place at the right time to meet the ministry needs
  • Proactively build and align team members, capabilities, and resources for achieving ministry objectives
  • Establish effective relationships across all functions.

Compliance and Risk management

  • Identify, and assist other teams to identify areas of compliance and risk and take appropriate measures to reduce the exposure of the ministry.
  • Maintain an inventory of compliance, the designated owners and hold them accountable.
  • Assist in monitoring and coordinating compliance and risk activities of departments to ensure consistent compliance.

Administrative matters

  • Communication (from leadership & feedback from teams)
  • Signatory to payments (above a specified threshold)
  • Periodically review and initiate amendment of policies under community care function.
  • Reporting to the WCCM Board and the Team Leader





Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field, along with relevant professional certifications or training.
  • Proven experience of over 8 years in a senior management position in a large faith-based NGO working with vulnerable children or people.
  • Ability to develop as well as drive strategy for growth.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with the capacity to engage diverse stakeholders.
  • Excellent leadership skills and ability to exercise judgement based on accurate and timely analyses.
  • Proven experience in supporting staff development, performance and career progression
