Job Summary: IFDC is currently seeking passionate Assistant Accountant to join its team, as the organization continues to expand its impact and work towards creating positive changes in agriculture and sustainable soil management across the world.
Assistant Accountant will be a national position and reports to the National Finance Officer and providing overall support to the Finance department. He/she will be based in the IFDC Fort Portal office
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure all payment documentation is reviewed complete & correct as per the IFDC procedures before processing.
- Assist in posting and making entries of payments in Netsuite
- Assist in review and processing requests for travel and activity advances
- Review and process all the invoices and reconcile before entering in the accounting system
- Follow up on the submission of travel expense reports (TER’s) to ensure that advances are retired and entered in Netsuite on a timely basis.
- Confirm the Request for Travel (RT) listing have been justified.
- Stamp all payment vouchers PAID before filing.
- Maintain a systematic filing system with clear labelling, where all physical vouchers and RTs are filed.
- Upload all the documents for approvals in XODO, Upload completed vouchers to relevant folders.
- Attach and upload all scanned vouchers and supporting documents to NetSuite Skydoc
- Assist with the verification of workshop/training participants phone numbers before disbursements.
- Initiate bank and mobile money payment instructions where applicable
- In close collaboration with the Administration team, ensure general day-today project financial and administration and receiving goods and items at Fortportal office
- Assist in recording of assets held at Fort portal in collaboration with the Administration Officer
- Perform other related duties as may be assigned by his/her supervisors or designate.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Have at least five (5) years professional experience
- Hold a degree in Finance and Accounting
- Currently in the process of completing the CPA course i
- Be able to express oneself orally and in writing in English
- Have accounting skills (mandatory) and payroll and tax law for Uganda
- Being able to work independently and take initiative.
- Ability to work in a multidisciplinary and international team and in a multicultural environment
- Be organized, rigorous and trustworthy
- Have a good knowledge of local labor laws and finance procedures
- Excellent communication skills with ability to express ideas clearly, logically and effectively.
