Job Summary: Our client is a leading FMCG company based in Kampala, Uganda with a large focus on Beverage manufacturing, production and distribution. On behalf of our client we are looking for a competent and experienced Deputy Plant Manager to be based in Kampala, Uganda
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- You will be responsible for plant bottling operations for all site operations to maximize effectiveness and supply logistics achieving delivery on-time targets.
- Planning, Organizing, Directing and Managing all maintenance operations.
- Prepares the production schedules to ensure optimized production cost and reduced downtimes.
- Set daily production mix levels and agree shift.
- Internal order placement performance, buyer activity levels, financial performance, and material shortage elimination.
- Ensure that the procurement process for various project / modification activities gets completed in line with the project completion period.
- Explore various innovative practices / approach with an intention to simplify the procurement process, achieve better quality & delivery schedules etc.
- To generate alternatives and novel approaches and implement new ways of working.
- To develop synergy / Collaboration, anticipates and responds actively and sensitively in meeting the needs and expectations of internal and external customers.
- Ensure and formulating strategies to create a competitive environment to get better bids and enforcing Strategic Supplying Process.
- Manages materials savings initiatives in line with profit plan and overall business objectives.
- Periodically Review of vendors performance for cost optimization and TAT.
- Oversee daily manufacturing operations to ensure production efficiency, quality, and cost-effective management of resources. Develop and implement plans to optimize production processes and improve efficiency.
- Ensure that all products are manufactured to the highest quality standards. Implement and monitor quality control systems and procedures. Address and resolve any issues related to product quality.
- Develop systems and processes that track and optimize productivity and standards, metrics and performance targets to ensure effective return on assets
- Address employees’ issues or grievances and ensure adherence with the HR Manual , SOPs and Uganda Labor Laws
- Stay up to date with latest production management best practices and concepts
- Any other work related assigned by the plant operations manager
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Bachelors/HND degree in Mechanical/Electrical or related field
- Other certification a strong advantage.
- Proven work experience as a deputy plant manager
- Seven years of experience in a beverage/bottling company preferably as Engineering Manager, Factory Manager or Project Manager.
- Adequate knowledge of business and management principles (budgeting, strategic planning, resource allocation and human resources)
- Familiarity with industry standard equipment and technical expertise
- Be knowledgeable of safety, quality, productivity, demand creation, inventory and stewardship processes
- Computer literacy and understanding of SAP
- Ability to create accountability and to lead by example
- Strong team building, decision-making and people management skills
