Job Summary:   Our client, a Government entity is looking for suitably qualified individuals to apply for the vacant position of Accounts Officer. The position reports to the Head Finance and Operations and is based in Kampala. This is a dream career opportunity for a highly dynamic, creative, innovative, and astute performer.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Company taxation in Uganda Prepare company Accounts. tax and statutory returns and any other financial reports required by Head Finance.
• Respond to internal and external inquiries and queries in liaison with the Head Finance
• Carry out bank reconciliations and prepare statements on bank accounts in line with UPHL financial accounting procedures.
• Timely journalize inventory adjustments for purchase returns, expiries. damages, donations and internally consumed stock items.
• Prepare and post journal entries and pass them to the Head of Finance for approval
• Support the preparation of periodic reports

• Verify the authenticity of all payments and ensure accuracy before payment.
• Manage debtors and creditors accounts in line with the Company’s finance policy and guidelines
• Reconcile supplier accounts and prepare payment schedules.

• Any other duties assigned by Head of Finance and or Management.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree (Hons) in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Business administration or Financial Management with accounting option, or any other related field from a recognized institution.
• Minimum level (1) of Professional qualification (ACCA, CPA, CIMA) is a MUST
• A minimum of 3 years working experience in Accounting and Finance from a reputable institution in the Public. Private or NGO sector
• Should have knowledge of:
• Computerized accounting systems.
• Understanding of Accounting Principles i.e. IAS/ IFRS
