UDHA seeks to fill the positions below following a Subgrant award to implement the HIV/TB activities supported by the Global Fund through The AIDS Support Organization (TASO) Uganda ltd, the Second Principal recipient of the Global Fund. The Sub-grant aims at supporting the implementation of Uganda’s Response to the HIV/AIDS and Tuberculosis.

 

Job Summary:   The Project Officer will lead on timely and efficient implementation of all project activities under the Global Fund Grant and is responsible for the delivery of project results in accordance with UDHA’s core values. S/he will work closely with the Program Manager, as well as other project staff to ensure effective coordination and service delivery. S/he will support the Management of AGYW Prevention Structures and Implementation of Activities: Oversee the establishment and functioning of AGYW prevention structures within the district. Coordinate the implementation of activities aimed at preventing HIV/AIDS among AGYW in collaboration with the existing stakeholders in the district. Ensure effective monitoring and evaluation of AGYW prevention initiatives to assess progress and impact. S/he will be the Focal Point for TB Contact Tracing Activities: Serve as the primary point of contact for TB contact tracing activities within the district. Collaborate with health facilities, community health workers, and other partners to identify and trace contacts of TB patients. Extend support to neighboring districts lacking office-based staff for TB contact tracing, ensuring comprehensive coverage and coordination. S/he will be the Focal Person for CBO Capacity Building: Act as the focal person for capacity building activities targeting CBOs within the district. Facilitate mentorship programs to enhance the capacity of CBOs in areas such as project management, reporting, and community engagement. Extend support and capacity-building initiatives to neighboring districts without office-based staff to strengthen the community response to various health challenges.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordination, planning, reporting, and ability to actively support project teams to manage to competing work priorities.
  • Prepare monthly, and quarterly work Plans and Budgets.
  • Supervise and mentor frontline stakeholders like the VHTs, Mentors, and Community champions to deliver desired project results.
  • Ensure proper utilization and accountability for all resources allocated to activities in Compliance with the approved donor budget and work Plans.
  • Represent UDHA in the Sector Working Groups at district levels.
  • Build sound and mutually respectable relations with the communities and stakeholders served by the project.
  • Develop and deliver project progress reports, requirements, documentation, and presentation
  • Hold performance reviews in the districts of operation.
  • Coordinate projects meetings in the district of operation and Liaise with project stakeholders in areas of operations.
  • Ensure that the project meets established quality standards and follows best practices in HIV/TB/AGYW and CBO programming.
  • Anticipate potential risks that may affect project outcomes and develop strategies to mitigate
  • Plan for resources needed to Implement and coordinate the daily project activities.
  • Maintain regular contact with partners and project beneficiaries in the districts.



Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences/Social Works and Social Administration / Public Health / Community Psychology or any other related training in Humanities.
  • A Post Graduate Diploma in Project Planning and Management / Monitoring and Evaluation / Training in Adolescent Sexual Reproductive Health / Counselling training in HIV/AIDs will be an added advantage
  • Ability to ride a Motorcycle and possession of a valid ridding permit is a must.
  • A minimum of 3 years working experience in donor funded organizations and or / Experience of working in the rural communities specifically HIV/TB/Adolescents.
  • Working knowledge of DHIS2, eCBSS and MS excel will be an added advantage.
  • Experience with facility level HMIS tools and registers
  • Strong organizational skills, analytical capabilities, able to work in a fast-paced environment, demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks
  • Excellent analytical skills, oral and written communication skills
