ITHUBA Uganda Limited is a dynamic and rapidly growing organization in Africa within the exciting world of Lottery and Gaming. ITHUBA Uganda Limited was recently licensed to run the National Lottery on behalf of the Government of Uganda.
Job Summary: The System Engineer will ensure stability, integrity, and efficient operation of the in-house information systems that support core organizational functions. This is achieved by monitoring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all networked software and associated operating systems. The Systems Engineer will apply proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate, and resolve issues in order to maximize the benefit of IT systems investments.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and analyze systems that are to be used by the employees and the managers of the company.
- Assist with all technical support including networks, desktops and Infrastructure systems.
- Support the Data center Operators with technical draw operations, monitoring, checklists and reporting on a rotational basis.
- Manage and monitor all installed systems and infrastructure.
- Install, configure, test and maintain operating systems, application software and system management tools.
- Proactively ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability
- Monitor and test application performance for potential bottlenecks, identify possible solutions, and work with developers to implement those fixes.
- Maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies.
- Write and maintain custom scripts to increase system efficiency and lower the human intervention time on any tasks
- Participate in the design of information and operational support systems
- Installing and configuring operating systems and application software.
- Implementing best practices for system security and data backups.
- Anticipating potential issues or bottlenecks and identifying possible solutions.
- Troubleshooting and resolving all technical issues when they arise.
- Communicating effectively with IT support staff to ensure the setup process runs smoothly.
- Liaising with vendors and keeping relevant stakeholders up to date with developments.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or any other related field.
- Certification in ITIL Foundation or PMP.
- Certification: A+ / N+ / CompTIA/ MCSE/ Nutanix
- 7 years of experience preferred
- 4 years + IT Server Engineering & Administration required
- 2 years + experience in IT Infrastructure Management (Data Centres)
- 2 years + Network Management
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Enthusiastic, self-motivated, and goal-oriented.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
