Job Summary: The Officer, Document Preparation – Collateral will contribute to the implementation of adequate Credit Risk controls specifically focusing on risks encountered in the post-credit granting stage of the lending process by maintaining the appropriateness, applicability, consistency, validity, & enforceability of collateral verifying that all collateral & legal documentation in respect of banking facilities & advances granted have been obtained are in legal order & properly housed to secure assets & mitigate risks minimizing financial losses.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Accountable for risks associated with credit agreements by verifying that no clauses have been included that could place the bank at undue risk.
- Drive the accurate and timely drafting of legally enforceable facility letters/loan agreements by checking that all the terms and conditions of sanction/covenants and required collateral are incorporated.
- Ensure a proper Credit Collateral Function by following compliance to all the relevant processes, procedures and policies pertaining to Credit Collateral Operations.
- Ensure the effective capturing of collateral related information in the finance collateral system by conducting regular audit checks to verify the validity and reliability of the information.
- Own and execute registration of collateral documents/agreements, registered by the relevant party, by checking the detail and driving the promptness thereof to minimise omissions and ensure that complications in the process are rapidly addressed, in order to improve the overall customer experience.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Minimum Qualifications: Type of Qualification: Bachelors Degree in Legal
- Experience Required:
- Credit Risk – BCB/PPB
- 1-2 years Experience with home loans and lending will be beneficial in this role. Preferable to have banking experience, particularly pertaining to banking processes with regard to collateral documentation and the operation thereof.
- 1-2 years Personal and Business banking will provide holistic exposure regarding credit risks, lending and associated collateral. Preferable to have banking experience, particularly pertaining to banking processes with regard to collateral documentation and the operation thereof.
- 3-4 years Understanding of the bank’s products & facilities. Understands the terms of the facilities, & the conditions that will need to be compiled with over the duration of the facility’s life to ensure that legal risk is effectively restricted.
