Job Summary: We are seeking a talented and motivated Technical Writer (Intern/ Volunteer) to join our dynamic team. This unpaid internship position offers a unique opportunity for current students or aspiring technical writers to gain hands-on experience in creating comprehensive and user-friendly documentation for our software products. The ideal candidate is passionate about writing, has a strong understanding of software development, and is eager to contribute to the success of our products by producing high-quality manuals, guides, and online content. The position is remote (80%) with occasional on-site work (20%).
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Create clear, concise, and well-organized documentation, including user manuals, API guides, and online help content.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers, product managers, and designers, to understand project requirements and technical specifications.
- Develop and maintain detailed technical content for software products, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
- Write engaging and user-friendly content for websites and mobile apps.
- Translate complex technical concepts into easy-to-understand language for end users.
- Review and update existing documentation to reflect new features and updates.
- Conduct usability testing to gather feedback and improve documentation.
- Stay updated on emerging trends and best practices in technical writing and software documentation.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to the overall strategy of the documentation process.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Degree or Diploma in English, Technical Writing, Communications, or a related field
- Strong understanding of software development processes and technologies.
- Strong writing skills with an ability to produce clear and concise content.
- Excellent editing, and proofreading skills.
- Ability to write clear, concise, and user-friendly documentation.
- Proficiency in using documentation tools such as Microsoft Word, Google docs, and content management systems.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively in a remote team environment.
- Eagerness to learn and adapt to new tools and technologies.
