Job Summary: This is a full-time on-site role as a Network and Security Solutions Engineer based in Kampala. The Network Engineer will be responsible for day-to-day enterprise network solutions design, deployment, administration, troubleshooting, cybersecurity solutions design, deployment, troubleshooting and administration
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Design and implement functional enterprise network infrastructure and systems using correct network diagrams and documentation
- Analyze and confirm the information demands and functional requirements in collaboration with internal teams and customers
- Adopt network security measures after organizing, planning, and safeguarding data, software, and hardware at customers’ sites.
- Monitor network performance to identify necessary adjustments and improvements
- Cooperate with technology suppliers to offer business-focused solutions
- Provide technical leadership to teams working on deployment and support
- Ensure the stability of the working environment before, during, and after system updates
- Establish and maintain strong cross-functional working connections with corporate and local teams
- Resolve issues escalated by lower support tiers and provide support for those tiers as needed
- Configure firewalls, routing, and switching to maximize network security and efficiency
- Utilize online resources and documentation to gain knowledge about new or unfamiliar technology
- Design and implement complex cybersecurity solutions like SIEM, EDR, NDR, MDR, SOAR, NAC, DLP, DDoS etc
- Must have sized and deployed Firewall appliances like Sophos, FortiGate, Cisco ASA, Cisco Firepower etc
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- At least five years of experience as a Network Engineer or similar role with Bachelors Degree in any ICT Professional
- A minimum of 5+ years of experience as a Network Engineer or similar role.
- Must have at least five years of experience as a Network Engineer or similar role.
- Must have the following certifications CCNA, CCNP ENTERPRISE and NSE4/ Fortinet Certified Professional Network Security or Security Operations
- Experience in network management and design
- Network Administration and Network Engineering skills
- Troubleshooting expertise
- Network Security knowledge
- Network Design proficiency
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to think analytically and solve complex problems
