Job Summary: The Head Marketing and Product Development is responsible for identifying, formulating, coordinating, and implementation of key product development and Marketing strategies to grow the Bank’s equity and market share.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Strategy, Research & Innovation
- Lead the preparation of periodic strategy plans that respond to opportunities and challenges in the market as well as manage the annual business planning process, ensuring that the business plans link into and support the longer term plans.
- Implementing strategies, international and Group marketing liaison and synergies, and measuring performance which culminates into value for money across the Bank.
- Implementation and control of strategic plans that include: Product growth plans, Business Growth and support, Internal and external communications and Customer satisfaction.
- Monitor departmental performance against the strategic plan, clearly identifying performance gaps and supporting Business teams to put in place plans to address gaps and opportunities in market.
- Gather relevant economic and market intelligence data on the banking industry internally and within the region.
- Identify and segment the target market of the Bank and ensure that the appropriate products are developed for each of these segments.
- Lead the team in designing innovative and winning solutions to meet ever growing and changing customer needs in target market.
- Spear head the Bank’s expansion and new markets, strategic marketing partnerships and banking alliance.
- Draw strategies for entry and participation in strategic sectors with growing economic prospects like agri-business, group savings, mobile banking.
- Translation of Bank’s strategic plan into annual marketing strategy that will result in enhanced brand and corporate image as well as customer service delivery.
- Marketing, Communication and Product Development
- Develop policies and procedures for effective marketing programs and strategies so as to achieve the Bank’s financial expectations and require level of customer satisfaction, brand recognition, loyalty and preference.
- Management of brand and product research, customer behavioural surveys and any other related surveys.
- Translation of Bank’s strategic plan into annual marketing strategy that will result in enhanced brand and corporate image as well as customer service delivery.
- Manage the Marketing department budget to be within the approved limits while maximising brand equity value.
- Implementation of product marketing plans which shall result in high level of internal preparedness for new products and improve performance of existing products. This includes staff presentations on new initiatives, ensuring that Branches have the relevant products marketing materials.
- Implementation of go-to-market strategies for target market segments that will result in quantifiable business support initiatives. The programs should result into higher sales, and overall achievement of targets.
- Provide quarterly competitor reports that should result into a better understanding of their strategies and our subsequent response.
- Coordinating the launch of new products to ensure a wider range of products is offered to customers relevant to their segments, thereby resulting into increased sales.
- Continually conduct product appraisals based on business cases, on existing and new products with the aim of reviewing performance of each product.
- Coordinate the training/presentations across the branch network and Head Office on new products and key product changes.
Team supervision
- Setting goals for performance and deadlines in ways that comply with company’s plans and vision
- Organizing workflow and ensuring that employees understand their duties or delegated tasks
- Monitoring employee productivity and providing constructive feedback and coaching
- Receive complaints and resolve problems
- Prepare and submit performance reports
Qualifications Skills and Experience:
- Masters Degree in Business, Marketing, Finance, Banking or a related field.
- Professional qualifications in Marketing or Finance or related field, e.g. CIM, ACCA, CPA
- 10 years’ experience in Financial Business Development; 4 of which should be at Senior Management level
- Track record in Marketing, Product development, Retail Banking and Risk Management.
- Credit and financial analysis skills to be able to make preliminary judgment on new products.
- Grasp of the Bank’s Business model, its strategy and all of its products and services.
- Excellent understanding of the Bank’s Business model, Strategy and ability to interpret this and map it to the market.
- Strong strategic and conceptual skills
- Leadership and Team management skills
- Strong business acumen and marketing skills
- Solid and proven risk management
- Strong decision making, conflict resolution and problem solving skills
- Networking skills, tact and diplomacy; with ability to influence key people inside and outside the Bank.
- Very strong presentation and communication skills.
