Job Summary:   The Sustainability Assistant is responsible for assisting in the development, implementation, and monitoring of sustainability initiatives within the organization. This role involves collaborating with various departments to promote sustainable practices, reduce environmental impact, and enhance the organization’s social responsibility efforts.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:    Research of sustainability and climate policy related topics including:

Develop and Implement Sustainability Strategy

  • Participate in the development of a comprehensive sustainability strategy aligned with Forvis/Mazars Uganda’ mission, values, and business goals.
  • Assist in the design and execution of sustainability projects and programs.

Research & Analysis

  • Conduct customized research relevant to sustainability issues, such as climate change, carbon emissions, principles, and trends.
  • Stay updated on sustainability trends, regulations, governance, and market best practices.
  • Participate in internal/client audits & assessments to evaluate environmental and social impact.

Stakeholder Engagement and Communication

  • Act as a primary liaison for sustainability matters within the organization, engaging with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Implement communication plans aimed at promoting sustainability initiatives and activities.
  • Liaise with the Marcom team to integrate sustainability messaging into corporate communications and marketing materials.

Training and Advocacy

  • Organize and participate in sustainability training and awareness programs.
  • Communicate Forvis/Mazars’s scope of services and provide guidance in the delivery of Sustainability Advisory Services to clients.
  • Foster a culture of sustainability within the organisation through advocacy and engagement activities.

Reporting and Compliance

  • Participate in the preparation of sustainability reports for internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant sustainability standards, certifications, and legal requirements.

 




Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental sciences, international relations, sustainable development or similar.
  • One to two years of experience in sustainability management, preferably within the financial services sector.
  • Knowledge of sustainability trends, regulations, and best practices
  • Passion for sustainability and corporate social responsibility.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken business English.
  • Good teamwork and time management skills
