Job Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced GBV assistant to support the officer in leading the Spotlight Initiative 2.0 project implementation in Kyaka II Refugee Settlement. The GBV Assistant will be responsible for the project’s day-to-day operations, facilitating trainings and supervising community structures in ensuring all activities are implemented effectively and efficiently to achieve the project’s objectives.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Program Implementation:

  • In collaboration with the GBV Officer, oversee, coordinate and monitor Spotlight project activities in refugee settlements
  • Assist the GBV Officer in implementing SRHR and GBV prevention activities as outlined in the Spotlight Initiative 2.0 project.
  • Support the organization and facilitation of workshops, trainings, and awareness campaigns on GBV prevention, SRHR, teenage pregnancy, gender equality and positive masculinities for adolescent girls and young women, boys and men, community structures, religious leaders, and service providers.
  • Assist with the identification and mobilization of community structures, religious leaders, and cultural leaders for training on GBV prevention and referral pathways.
  • Collaborate with partners and stakeholders, including the Kyegegwa District Local Government, OPM, UNHCR, and CSOs, to ensure coordinated and effective GBV prevention efforts in Kyaka II.
  • Support the development and dissemination of IEC materials on GBV prevention and SRHR.
  • Submit weekly, and monthly comprehensive work plans to the supervisor.
  • Collaborate with programme staff and operations to ensure that supplies are available for GBV activities in a timely manner and resources are available to support events, trainings, and workshops.
  • Participate and represent Alight in relevant committees, clusters, task forces, and zone level coordination meetings.
  • Support the immediate supervisor to complete monthly cash projections, spend out plans and raise PRs for needed supplies.
  • Ensure compliance with ALIGHT policies and protocols of confidentiality, respect and safety.

Monitoring and Evaluation:

  • Participate in data collection and monitoring activities related to GBV prevention.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of GBV prevention activities.
  • Submit weekly, and monthly comprehensive reports to the supervisor.
  • Provide continuous feedback to supervisor on any challenges in the work implementation to be addressed directly with corrective steps/measures if needed.

Other:

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the GBV Officer.





Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in public health, social work, gender studies, public or a related field (preferred).
  • Two years’ experience working in GBV Programming, Sexual Reproductive Health Rights, preferably in refugee settings.
  • Experience working with community structures and facilitating workshops/trainings.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and facilitation skills.
  • Strong ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Fluency in English and Swahili or another relevant local language.
  • Experience working in a refugee settlement environment (highly preferred).
  • Commitment to gender equality and human rights.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
  • Possession of a rider’s permit is a MUST.
