About Organisation:
Makerere University Walter Reed Project (MUWRP) is a non-profit biomedical research Organization, whose mission is to mitigate disease threats through quality research, healthcare and disease surveillance. MUWRP was established in 2002 by a Memorandum of Agreement between The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine, Inc. (HJF) and Makerere University (Mak) to undertake medical research to test HIV vaccines. Over the years, MUWRP’s portfolio has progressively expanded to include vaccine research for Ebola and Marburg viruses, surveillance of influenza and influenza- like viruses and other emerging infections in humans and animals; also epidemiological, basic and implementation research in HIV treatment, care and prevention programs in the Districts of Kayunga, Mukono, Buvuma and Buikwe.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage the field office front desk.
- Coordinate workshops, training events, and other office activities in collaboration with the Operations Associate.
- Supervise and manage the performance of the field Sanitary Officers. Assist in arranging travel for field staff.
- Coordinate logistical arrangements for planned office and community mobilization activities with the Operations Associate.
- Manage fuel requisitions for field office generators and facilities in conjunction with the Operations Associate.
- Maintain tracking systems and prepare reports, forms, documents, and materials to facilitate information flow.
- Ensure proper records management through filing, retrieval, retention, storage, compilation, updating, and destruction.
- Receive and refer mail, packages, etc., to designated locations.
- Attend meetings and seminars to take notes, prepare minutes, and furnish information.
- Complete various request forms for office supplies and equipment as directed.
- Perform any other duties as directed by the Supervisor.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold a Degree in Administration/office management studies or related field from a recognized University
- At least two years of experience in a similar position.
- Experience in a hospital/clinical/research setting is an added advantage
- Excellent Oral and Written English and Luganda
- Good computer knowledge.
Personal Attributes & Physical Ability:
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated.
- Familiarity with standard electronic office machines (phones, copier, fax etc.
- Ability to work in Luwero and Nakasongola
