Job Summary: The Assistant Depot Technician at Vivo Energy Uganda is responsible for ensuring the efficient operation and maintenance of the depot, proactively identifying and addressing any technical issues or anomalies that could impact business performance, while supporting the team to deliver exceptional customer service in line with Vivo Energy’s HSSEQ standards.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure all depot equipment and LPG customer sites are maintained to consistently high operational standards and in compliance with safety regulations.
- Demonstrate effective management of cost-efficient maintenance practices to optimize operational expenses while prioritizing safety protocols.
- Provide ongoing technical guidance and support to contracted workers in the workshop, ensuring adherence to safety standards and maintenance procedures.
- Collaborate with the Distribution Operations Engineer to procure necessary plant spares and equipment, ensuring timely availability to minimize downtime and maintain safety.
- Maintain accurate records of depot maintenance activities, including inspections, repairs, and equipment servicing, to ensure compliance and safe operations.
- Monitor and promptly report any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards that may impact plant operations or pose risks to personnel.
- Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance tasks to uphold safety standards, mitigate risks, and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Assist in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues related to depot equipment and LPG customer sites, ensuring safety and continuity of service delivery.
- Participate in safety training programs and workshops to enhance knowledge and skills relevant to safety protocols and depot operations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support operational initiatives and projects aimed at improving safety, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a similar role within the oil and gas, energy, or industrial sector.
- Proven experience in maintaining and troubleshooting depot/plant equipment and facilities, with a focus on safety and operational efficiency.
- Strong technical knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, including pumps, compressors, valves, and related equipment.
- Proficiency in performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on depot equipment.
- Familiarity with safety protocols and regulatory requirements in the oil and gas industry.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail in maintaining maintenance records and documentation.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
