Cairo Bank Uganda Limited was incorporated on 11th July, 1994. The Bank was formerly known as Cairo International Bank owned by the three leading Egyptian Banks namely; Banque Du Caire, Bank Misr and National Bank of Egypt. In 2019, it became a fully owned subsidiary of Banque Du Caire (BDC). The shareholder consolidation in 2019 was on the back of expanding its presence across Africa whilst providing an entry point into the COMESA market.
Job Summary: The Junior Applications Developer will design, develop, test and deploy new business applications, Application interfaces, services utilities and application programming interfaces (API) customization and automate various business processes in order to provide various business needs of the bank.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- To design and/or customize existing software solutions by studying information needs; systems flow, data usage, and work processes while adhering to the software development lifecycle.
- Support the development of an interoperability framework between the Core Banking System and its interfacing applications for new integrations
- Activate all functionalities within the Core Banking System to enable businesses to utilize their full potential
- Take part in the gathering of user requirements to develop automated solutions based on formulated functional and business requirements.
- Perform technical analysis, design and documentation required for new changes and projects.
- Investigate, analyze and make recommendations to management regarding technology improvements, upgrades and modifications.
- Develop and direct software system testing and validation procedures, programming and documentation.
- Support the development and update of reference materials such as operating instructions, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts, code comments and clear code
- Undertake such other tasks within the scope of the role as directed by management from time to time
- Work closely with the business partners to identify and maximize opportunities to use Information Technology to improve product service and /or program business processes.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Recently graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems or a related numerical field of Study.
- Ability to rewrite source – code they have not originally developed to change or add new functionality.
- Basic understanding of software development principles and practices.
- Familiarity with HTML, CSS and JavaScript
- Knowledge of C# programming language is a must.
- Knowledge of Java and html programming languages is an added advantage.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Knowledge of modern web development tools and frameworks such as Django, React or Angular is an added advantage.
