About EACOP Project:
The East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) project is a major regional infrastructure project (Capex: 4.1 G$, OPEX:>2.5G$ over 25 years) between Uganda and Tanzania coast, opening a new value corridor between the two countries. The project anticipates the mobilization of ~8,000 to 10,000 personnel across the various construction sites. This role functions as support for the EACOP corporate entity and interfaces with the Project teams to integrate the contractor plans into the Corporate systems and strategies.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate performance and statistical reporting for environmental matters including weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports in timely manner.
- Managing the environment data in the EACOP Environmental Reporting tool including providing administrative support to users. Tasks include development and roll out of training and guidance on environmental data management and reporting, system set up, interaction with users to improve the reporting tool, checks on availability and quality of data, follow up with project team (and other internal data providers) on data availability, validating data were necessary, conducting data and trend analysis.
- Coordinating environmental data information requests from internal/external stakeholders and preparation of internal and external reports/tables/graphs etc for stakeholder engagement and reporting (e.g. to Lenders, authorities etc). Participate when required in internal and external environmental audits.
- Interacting with other departments to ensure that environmental data needed for internal/external reports are available e.g. interacting with the project regulatory compliance team on the various permits to ensure that all environment data mentioned in the permits is available and integrate into the EACOP Environmental Reporting tool (if required), interacting with corporate HSE department for information on environmental events, etc.
- Develop and maintain EACOP Corporate environmental monitoring and reporting plans and procedures.
- Supporting operational phase readiness environmental management plans and implementation.
- Managing the environment data in the EACOP Environmental Reporting tool and preparation of required environmental reports to internal and external stakeholders.
- Support the Lead Environment Methods & Reporting Lead to establish the processes required for the implementation of the EACOP internal and external Environmental Reporting obligations.
- Carry out any other duties or tasks that may be required by the position.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Professional Experience: At least 5 (five) years professional experience in Oil and Gas or other extractive industry environment capacity with specific experience in environmental data management and environmental reporting.
- Academic Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in the Environmental Management/Science or Computer equivalent.
Technical Competences:
- Experience working in Environment matters for oil and gas or extractive industries with exposure to East African context.
- Experience and knowledge of environment monitoring and reporting software.
- Deep understanding of environmental issues and environmental reporting requirements (e.g. Ugandan, Tanzanian, International Finance Corporation and Equator Principles).
- Capable of handling relevant IT tools (MS Office Suite, especially Excel, Power BI and other specific tools as required).
Behavioural Competences:
- Ability to work in a multi-cultural business setting and excellent interpersonal and communication skills essential.
- Studious, analytical with Attention to detail, ability to establish priorities, meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Fluent in English – Speaking & writing
