Job Summary: The Credit Manager – Retail is responsible for leading the team in providing financial solutions to Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) at all branches. They will use their understanding of the agricultural value chain and ability to identify new business opportunities to meet the financial needs of MSME clients. Additionally, they will collaborate with regional and branch credit teams and act as a liaison between the bank and its partners in managing loans for the agriculture sector and small businesses.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage a team of Credit Analysts and support staff who specialize in agribusiness and Micro Small and Medium Enterprise business loans in the bank wide network.
- Support the branches by meeting with potential clients to discuss loan needs, provide guidance, and develop relationships.
- Ensure compliance with Credit underwriting guidelines and credit policy across all branches in line with the Bank’s Credit Policy and procedures.
- Represent the bank in community and industry events and provide thought leadership in agribusiness and Micro Small and Medium Enterprise lending.
- Train and develop branch credit staff on credit administration, origination, due diligence, documentation, and compliance guidelines.
- Evaluate and monitor the Micro Small and Medium Enterprise loan portfolio’s performance, identify potential problem facilities, and develop strategies to mitigate risk.
- Provide training and education to Credit Analysts, Branch Managers, Branch Business Managers and Credit officers at the Branches and support staff on agribusiness and Micro Small and Medium enterprise lending best practices.
- Verify that all credit submissions meet credit policy, underwriting, and documentation standards.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, or a related field.
- At least five years of proven experience in branch credit management or related fields.
- Knowledge of commercial and retail loan underwriting, documentation, credit administration, and compliance.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, train, and develop a team of credit officers.
- Excellent analytical, written, and verbal communication skills to develop and deliver training programs, manage reports, and communicate effectively with other departments and stakeholders.
- Experience in developing and maintaining internal controls and risk management systems.
- A thorough knowledge of banking products and services, market trends, and regulatory requirements.
