Job Title:  Weather Observer (6 Job Placements)

Organisation: Uganda National Meteorological Authority (UNMA)

Duty Station:  Kampala, Uganda

Reports to: Senior Weather Observer

About Organisation:

Uganda National Meteorological Authority (UNMA) is a Statutory Body established by UNMA Act, 2012. The Act empowers UNMA to provide for the control and development of technically sound and scientific meteorological services in Uganda.

Job Summary: The Weather Observer will support planning, coordination and implementation of decisions on procurement of equipment and instruments for calibration systems and enforcement of safety and security of instruments / equipment at the station

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Transmit weather data to the relevant office
• Digitizing analogue and tabulating it for keying into the database.
• Make weather observations at regular intervals
• Sort climate data and digitize it;
• Making weather observations every half-hour;
• Entering the observed data into the weather registers.
• Responsible for plotting the weather data on various technical charts.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

• Diploma in Meteorology/WMO Class II or Diploma in Agro Meteorology.
• Age: 23-55 Years
