About Organisation:
Alliance Forum for Development (AFOD)-Uganda is a national NGO, registered with Uganda national NGO board and is mandated to support the government of Uganda in delivery of adolescent sexual reproductive health (ASRH), maternal and child nutrition (MCN), child protection, creating community resilience in food security, and research both in humanitarian and development programmes.
Job Summary: The Logistics Assistant (Commodity Management) will coordinate day-to-day Logistics – Commodity Management with WFP ensuring management of commodities stored at all FDPs under the Area of Operations, including receipt and accounting.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure accurate daily and weekly reports on food and NFIs in the AFOD stores are shared with WFP and ensure that internal control systems are functioning and all relevant records are maintained;
- Report timely any anomaly encountered from/by transporters in the delivery of cargo from EDPs and finally to the FDPs.
- Ensure utilization of AFOD documents for supply chain transactions as per WFP rules and regulations (waybills, LTI, stock reports, loss reports, etc.).
- Ensure daily and monthly reconciliation of stock reports with the commodity tracking unit.
- Institute loss mitigation measures, loss analysis and reporting,
- Regularly monitor and supervise the activities of food handling at all FDPs;
- Provide support to logistics operations and activities, following standard processes and facilitating, directly or indirectly, the effective delivery of food assistance to beneficiaries.
- Support timely ordering and delivery of commodities and supplies for General Food Distribution.
- Support in managing, securing, and accounting for all General Food Distribution NFIs stored at FDPs
- Respond to a variety of technical queries/requests for support, following standard processes, and obtaining guidance as required, to ensure timely and accurate resolution of all inquiries with a high standard of client service mindset
- Perform any other duties as deemed necessary.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Hold a University Degree in either of the following fields: Accounts, Procurement & Logistics, Computer Science, Statistics, or any other related field obtained from a recognized Institution or a Diploma in Accounts, Procurement & Logistics, Computer Science, Statistics, or any other related field obtained from a recognized Institution, coupled with longer relevant working experience;
- A minimum of four years of relevant working experience in a relevant field gained from a reputable organization;
- Ability to implement operational warehouse procedures and normative guidance to manage WFP’s warehouse, handle inventory effectively through corporate systems, and ensure loss mitigation; train laborers on appropriate staking methods; identification of potential risks and take remedial actions; coordinate with transporters and accountability for commodities within the warehouse.
Core Competences
- Good working knowledge and experience with Microsoft Packages and other Networking Operating Systems.
- Excellent command of both written & oral English is essential.
- Ability and willingness to live and work in remote field locations under basic conditions.
- Well-developed interpersonal and team skills.
- The ability to present concise reports, sometimes on short notice.
