DFCU Bank is a fast growing commercial bank offering a variety of innovative products and services. DFCU Limited was started by the Commonwealth Development Corporation (CDC) of the United Kingdom and the Government of Uganda through the Uganda Development Corporation (UDC) under the name of Development Finance Company of Uganda Limited. Later restructuring brought in DEG (of Germany) and International Finance Corporation (IFC) as equal partners with CDC and UDC, each having a 25% stake in the company. Its objective was to support long-term development projects whose financing needs and risk did not appeal to the then existing financial commercial lending institutions.
Job Summary: Reporting to the Head of Financial Planning & Analysis, the Finance Business Partner will be responsible for supporting the function in driving value creation, defining the standards and driving the governance in the domain, backtesting analysis, tracking financial performance, setting strategies, forecasting and analyse data to support decision making.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Drive value creation in the function by applying a challenger mindset and problem-solving attitude while also working very closely with stakeholders.
- Regularly, perform specific backtesting analysis to assess if the value has been generated from all project phases completed.
- Champion the standard setting and governance processes of the domain to ensure compliance by the teams.
- Be the point of contact for the financial management of all running projects in the domain.
- Be responsible for the Credit / TDO asset (hardware and software) accountability including maintaining the asset register, reconciling acquisition and disposal of assets while monitoring the state of running assets.
- Lead and coordinate the function’s financial planning processes in close collaboration with the functional teams, in line with the bank’s strategy and ambition.
- Support optimisation initiatives, ensuring financial transparency and accountability, ensuring that risks/opportunities are understood, and their impacts forecasted and tracked.
- Performing insightful variance analysis while making recommendations for mitigating actions
- Work with the finance teams to ensure completeness and accuracy in total bank reporting.
- Support the preparation of functional reports, in conjunction with the finance business partners.
- Be the first point of contact for all finance-related support for the TDO / Credit domain.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
- Postgraduate qualification in finance i.e., ACCA, CIMA, CPA
- At least 3 years of work experience preferably in financial services, Management Consulting or value-for-money auditing/evaluation
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organisational, planning and time management skills
- Demonstrated strength in using analytical tools with an understanding of IT-related systems.
- Self-driven and goal-oriented.
- Have great attention to detail and thrive with being one step ahead.
