Key Duties and Responsibilities: The incumbent will be responsible to the Principal Agricultural Officer for performing the following duties:-
- Participating in formulation, review and implementation of policies, legislation, standards, plans and strategies for sustainable environmental management at the National level;
- Planning, organising, implementing and reporting on environmental management programmes and activities in the Uganda Prisons Services;
- Organizing and implementing sensitization and capacity building plans, programmes, strategies and guidelines for managers, staff and other stakeholders on the currently obtaining National and Regional environmental management strategies and initiatives;
- Establishing and maintaining working linkages and collaboration mechanisms with relevant National and International Organizations to support environmental management projects, programmes and initiative by the Uganda Prisons Services;
- Preparing and disseminating technical guidelines, booklets and other printed materials on environmental management standards, procedures and practices for the Uganda Prisons Service;
- Providing technical leadership in supporting community-based initiatives on the renewal and sustainability of the natural environment;
- Preparing and presenting technical/scientific reports to the management of Uganda Prisons Service and other relevant stakeholders;
- Preparing and submitting work plans, budgets and performance reports to the relevant authorities for action;
- Enforcing implantation of the national and Uganda Prisons Service actions plans on environmental management;
- Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Applicants should be Ugandans holding an Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Environment Management from a recognized University/Institution He/She Must have undergone a Cadet Officers/ Command Course at Uganda Prisons Academy and Training School in case of uniformed staff
- Applicants should have a minimum of three (03) years relevant working experience which must have been served at the level of Environmental Officer.
