Job Summary: As Research Coordinator, you contribute to the ambition and values of VVOB by overseeing and coordinating a research study aimed at understanding the effectiveness of peer mentoring in facilitating the implementation of the UCatchUp Kasese programme in government and government-aided primary
schools.
Reporting to the Strategic Education Advisor, you work in close collaboration with the Global Strategic Advisor Research, the Global Strategic Education Advisor and the country team including the MEAL Advisor, Education Advisor and District Support Coordinators.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop research protocols and methodologies that ensure high-quality data collection.
- Design data collection tools to gather qualitative and quantitative data.
- Collaborate with internal and external research partners to refine research questions and hypotheses.
- Conduct in-depth case-studies to understand different peer mentoring systems, and analyse the qualitative data gathered.
- Use case-study results to design and implement A/B testing to evaluate different peer mentoring models, analyse A/B test results to identify effective peer mentoring models, and iterate on A/B testing methodologies based on feedback and research findings.
- Synthesize findings into comprehensive reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
- Communicate research findings effectively to inform decision-making and program improvement.
- Coordinate collaboration and communication between VVOB staff and external partners, in a timely and proactive manner.
- Monitor project timelines, budget, and milestones to ensure timely completion of objectives.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Master’s degree or equivalent in education, economics, social science.
- Proven experience in designing and implementing quantitative and/or qualitative experimental research designs. Experience setting up and conducting case studies and/ or A/B testing is an added advantage.
- Knowledge of the education sector in Uganda or East Africa is preferred.
- Qualitative and quantitative data analysis skills.
- Experience in writing concise, clear, and structured research reports.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Experience leading and coordinating research projects, including planning activities, developing data collection protocols, budgeting, and managing enumerators.
- You are fluent in English both verbal and written.
- You are authorised to work in Uganda on a local contract.
