About US:

The Infectious Diseases Research Collaboration (IDRC) is a non-profit research organization. IDRC conducts research in infectious diseases including Malaria, HIV and Tuberculosis. Our studies have led to over 300 publications and have impacted on the management of infectious diseases in Uganda. IDRC currently manages over 41 Grants with an annual budget of $11 million. IDRC was established in May 2008 by Ugandan health scientists from Makerere University College of Health Sciences, University of California, San Francisco and the Uganda Ministry of Health.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support the Principal investigator in the administrative aspects of the project.
  • Coordinate field activities for all project sites in Uganda and at international sites (Burundi and South Sudan)
  • Take lead in communicating with the Regulatory Department to ensure timely submission of all appropriate study documents.
  • Maintain both electronic and hard copies of the project records including training documentation (staff GCP, GCLP and HSP compliance) at all study sites.
  • Make cash requests for allowances for field team from the finance Department.
  • Responsible for submission of consent forms and protocols for stamping at IRB.
  • Participate in the development and maintenance of study specific standard Operating Procedures.
  • Lead bi-weekly zoom meetings with the study teams and international collaborators.
  • Visit field sites quarterly whenever necessary to engage with study teams as well as authorities that manage refugee welfare and health.
  • Work with the field leads to track supplies (consent forms and other study documents) and liaise with the IDRC procurement team to replenish them.
  • Maintain communication between the field team and the IDRC administration in Kampala to ensure a smooth working relationship.
  • Organize for and participate in staff trainings including developing training materials.





Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor of Arts or other related courses (Public administration, Development studies, and Social work and Social administration) from a recognized University
  • Master’s in public health or a postgraduate Diploma in the relevant field will be an added advantage.
  • At least two years of prior work experience in vulnerable populations
  • Good computer skills (MS Office and experience) are required.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills (both oral and written)
  • Self-motivated candidate with a high level of integrity
