About US:
The Ministry of Water and Environment (MWE) was established in 2007, from the then Ministry of Water, Lands and Environment, following the cabinet decision taken on 15th April, 2007. It has the overall responsibility of the development, managing, and regulating water and Environment resources in Uganda.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: The incumbent will be responsible to the Assistant Commissioner, Water Resources Monitoring and Assessment for performing the following duties:-
- Participating in developing and reviewing national policies focusing on monitoring and assessment of water resources;
- Participating in reviewing and updating national strategic plans for water resources monitoring and assessment;
- Supporting operation, development and maintenance of water quantity monitoring networks;
- Participating in development and implementation of water resources and land use guidelines in the Sector;
- Participating in research and developing area-based water resources management plans;
- Participating in assessment of water resources in the country;
- Participating in initiation and management of mitigation plans, guidelines and measures against disasters (i.e. floods and droughts);
- Participating in management and dissemination of information on water resources;
- Any other duties that may assigned from time to time.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Applicants should be Ugandans holding an Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering; or Geosciences; or any other water related sciences and a Masters Degree in Water Engineering; or Geosciences; or any other water related field from a recognized University/ Institution. Engineers must be registered with the Uganda Engineers’ Registration Board.
- Applicants should have a minimum of six (6) years relevant working experience, three (3) of which should have been served at the level of Senior Water Officer in Government.
