Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries is a Government Ministry charged with creating an enabling environment in the Agricultural Sector.  It is commonly known as Ministry of Agriculture and carries out its role by enhancing crop production, improving food and nutrition security, widening export base and improved incomes of the farmers.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: The incumbent will be responsible to the Assistant Commissioner for performing the following duties:-

• Planning and implementing policies, regulations and certification of Standard Operating Procedures and SIS;
• Monitoring and evaluating usage of fish health certificates for exports;
• Preparing and disseminating fish export certification schedules;
• Taking record of daily fish inspection, approval of vessels and certificates;
• Providing technical support to facilitate prompt procurement of certificates;
• Preparing quarterly inspection schedules for licensed fish processing plants, approved landing sites and fish maws processors;
• Preparing work plans and budgets and submitting to the supervisor for further action;
• Preparing activity and field reports and submitting them to the supervisor;
• Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

• Applicants should be Ugandans holding an Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Fisheries; or Zoology; or Aquatic Biology/Science from a recognized University/Institution and a minimum of a post graduate Qualification in fisheries or Zoology or Aquatic Biology from a recognized University/Institution.
• Applicants should have a minimum of six (6) years relevant working experience in the field of fisheries management and development, three (3) of which should have been served at the level of a Senior Officer in Government.
