About US:
Michigan Fellows Africa Initiatives (MFAI) advances innovative problem-solving interventions that intentionally address life challenges for often marginalized populations. MFAI started as a professional network of alumni of the U.S. Department of State (DoS) exchange Professional Fellows Program (PFP) at Michigan State University (MSU) in 2018. The MSU fellowship was pivotal to connect professional fellows from Africa. Upon return from the United States, the Ugandan fellows registered MFAI as a not-for-profit organization.
Job Summary: Michigan Fellows Africa Initiatives (MFAI) Uganda is seeking applicants for a Web Design and Development Internship. This opportunity is geared towards individuals currently pursuing or who have recently graduated with a degree in Information Technologies and Communication (ITC). This internship will provide a hands-on experience in web management and development within a dynamic Non-profit environment in Africa. Interns will be compensated with an hourly stipend.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Update, monitor, and maintain the MFAI website.
- Implement design and content updates to enhance user experience.
- Develop new features and functionalities to improve engagement.
- Collaborate on the design of user-centric web pages and integrate multimedia elements.
- Participate in IT-related project planning and execution.
- Perform website quality assurance tests and address any issues.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Current enrollment or recent graduate with a Diploma or Bachelors in Computer Science, IT, Web Design, or a related field from a recognized institution.
- Proficiency in web development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP) and content management systems (e.g., WordPress).
- Experience or knowledge in Google Analytics and Google Ads is preferred.
