ITHUBA is a dynamic and rapidly growing organization in Africa within the exciting world of Lottery and Gaming. ITHUBA Uganda Limited was recently licensed to run the National Lottery on behalf of the Government of Uganda.
Job Summary: The Legal and Compliance Officer will support the legal department in addressing its legal business needs, by providing legal advice to business including research, providing administrative legal assistance and thereby ensuring compliance and mitigating legal risk matters. He/She will assist with litigious matters as well as operational legal risk issues that may arise at the company, conduct research and ensure that employment and commercial contracts are compliant with the relevant legislation. They will be the first point of contact for all legal, compliance and data protection matters in which the Company is involved within the legal and compliance function.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- LLB Honours in Law
- Diploma in legal Practice from Law Development Centre
- At least three years of experience either practicing law or in the business environment/in-house legal counsel
- Experience in the drafting, review, negotiation of domestic and cross-border agreements, corporate and commercial transactions.
- A minimum of 3 years in conducting due diligence and/or Vetting & Accreditation of suppliers and/or contractors
- Demonstrated experience in convening and leading legislative discussion with law makers and technical officials
- Demonstrated experience and skills in successful collaboration with senior and high-ranking Government of Uganda officials and other public and private stakeholders.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize daily workload.
- Exemplary Planning and Time Management skills
- Strong business acumen
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work under minimum supervision
