Baylor College of Medicine Children’s Foundation -Uganda (Baylor-Uganda) is an indigenous not-for-profit child health and development organisation affiliated to the Baylor College of Medicine International Paediatric AIDS Initiative (BIPAI), a Network of paediatric HIV/AIDS care and treatment Children’s Clinical Centres of Excellence and international program offices in 11 countries across Africa and Eastern Europe.
Job Summary: The Medical Officer will conduct clinical patient assessment, provide medical care and treatment to clients, offer individualized and group health education, and contribute to continuous professional development in line with the Baylor-Uganda medical and psychosocial needs. Take on any other roles as need arises.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive clinical management of clients including assessments for adverse events both at the health facility and in the community.
- Confirming/Verifying eligibility of potential research participants.
- Ordering laboratory tests and interpreting them in a timely manner.
- Prescribing ARVs and other medications.
- Completing source forms and case record forms (CRFs).
- Providing HIV/ AIDS related counselling.
- Actively participating in all learning sessions organized for clinicians and staff at the health facility.
- Participate in the conduct of ethically approved research.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) or its equivalent from a recognized institution and must be registered with the Uganda Medical and Dental Practitioners Council.
- At least two years of experience in clinic or hospital-based services.
- Experience in HIV/AIDS and ART is important.
