About Organisation:

Finnish Refugee Council (FRC) is an NGO providing adult education and community development among refugees in Uganda since 1997 as an operational partner to OPM and UNHCR.

 

Job Summary: The Business Development Officer involves developing and delivering business skill-related trainings for designated refugee retailer groups across three settlements in West Nile. Additionally, providing technical support and guidance to retailers and monitoring their progress

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Plan and conduct business skill trainings (50 %)

  • Contribute to the content of the business skill training curriculum for retailers.
  • Plan and conduct training sessions for retailer groups, based on the training curriculum.
  • Share skills and knowledge on business and livelihoods with beneficiaries.
  • Keep up to date with business related trends and requirements for retailers.

Technical advice and skill development (25 %)

  • Identify technical capabilities and challenges on refugee retailers’ skills and knowledge in regard of business skills, retailer practises and conditions.
  • Provide advisory and mentoring support to selected beneficiaries on business and livelihoods related topics (business management, records, legal compliance etc.).
  • Provide information on available networks, developmental and funding opportunities.

Monitoring, Evaluation, Learning and Reporting (25%)

  • Assist in baseline, endline and other surveys conducted and facilitate other data collection.
  • Keep record of trainings, adaptation of skills and knowledge provided during the training.
  • Compile necessary reports, including lessons learned for improvement of the training programme.

 




Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • University degree in business skills / livelihoods / entrepreneurship.
  • One to two years of relevant field experience on training and advising beneficiaries on business and livelihoods.
  • Experienced facilitator and trainer, with some training material development skills.
  • Willingness to travel and stay in refugee locations.
