Job Summary: The Assistant Financial Accountant will support the Financial Accountant in accurate recording, analysis, and reporting of financial transactions in accordance with GAAPS and regulatory requirements.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Accounts receivables

  • Allocate receipts to customers’ accounts.
  • Carry out reconciliation of debtor’s accounts.
  • Prepare debtors aging analysis on a monthly basis.

Accounts Payables

  • Timely and accurate booking of supplier invoices in the ERP system.
  • Prepare the supplier ageing analysis on a monthly basis.

Inventory

  • Analyze the costs the costs in Goods in Transit Account (GIT), Net Landed Costing and pass respective inventory journals.
  • Prepare inventory ageing analysis on a monthly basis
  • Participate in physical stock takes, document variances and outcomes of the stock take process

Fixed Assets register

  • Maintain an up-to-date fixed assets register by accurately recording new acquisitions, disposals, transfers and conducting regular reconciliations with physical inventory counts.
  • Prepare and submit quarterly reports on assets in the organization.

Bank Reconciliation

  • Capture, post and track transactions on to the company’s operational accounts for proper accountability.
  • Engage user departments and banks in order to seek clarity on sighted anomalies in the documents.
  • Maintain all records of transactions posted on the company account
  • Prepare periodic bank reconciliation statements to ensure transactions in ERP tally with those in the bank

Monthly /Quarterly Management Reporting

  • Prepare end of month/quarter management accounts with accompanying analytics.
  • Prepare ad-hoc management reports as shall be required from time to time.




Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • An Honors Bachelors’ Degree in Commerce or Accounting or Business.
  • Minimum of ACCA or CPA level 2.
  • At least two years of experience in a well-structured and busy finance department.
  • Advanced knowledge in use of Excel and ERP Systems (preferably Oracle, SAP or Ebizframe).
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Internal Control Procedures.
