About Organisation:

The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program envisions a transformative network of young people and institutions driving inclusive and equitable socio-economic change in Africa. Since launching in 2012, the Program has supported nearly 45,000 young people in Africa to pursue secondary or tertiary education.   The second phase of the Program will offer 1000 Scholarships to young African women and men, admitted to both the Undergraduate and Graduate Academic Programmes at Makerere University Main Campus. The Program aims to deepen inclusive University education and empower the Youth to transform into leaders who will make meaningful contributions to national and regional development.

 

Job Summary:  The Assistant Finance and Administration Officer shall provide financial and administrative support in accordance with the University’s Financial management guidelines and the financial guidelines of Mastercard Foundation.

Eligibility: Scholar Alumni of the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at Makerere University

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and manage employee expense reports and accountabilities, ensuring adherence to University and Program-level guidelines
  • Ensure proper recording and archiving of financial documents
  • Perform monthly Accounts’ reconciliations
  • Monitor Petty Cash Expenditures and ensure timely accountability
  • Maintenance of the Program asset register
  • Timely preparation of URA reports to the Finance office for statutory filings
  • Support the preparation of periodic financial reports
  • Convene and provide administration support for the Alumni engagements
  • Monitor, identify and report any safeguarding concerns that may arise during the Program implementation





Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • At least a Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Commerce, Business Administration, or any other related field
  • Should hold at least CPA level two or ACCA or has enrolled for any of the two professional programmes as an added advantage
  • At least two years of experience in accounting.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel.
  • Knowledge of relevant accounting principles and regulations.
