Our client in the chocolate industry is looking for a Sourcing GM for a full-time in country position in Western Uganda, responsible for leading sourcing, production, and export operations. The ideal candidate should have experience in management of sourcing staff, policy implementation, logistics, cash management, investor relations, and annual planning. The ideal candidate must also have a willingness to offer recommendations for the improvement of the company and the livelihoods of the farmers.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Management over all sourcing staff including review of work and reports, recruitment,
- performance management, professional development, etc.
- Ensure accuracy, timely reporting and proper accountability for: procurement, production and stock
- Implementation of company policies and operations
- Support Field Manager in management of cocoa procurement and certification
- Supervise production, storage, packing and shipping of cocoa
- Manage logistics of procurement and delivery of cocoa for export
- Oversee cash management of expenses in Kasese and Bundibugyo
- Accountability across all activities to ensure no theft, no mismanagement of funds, no improper procurement, and balancing of all money and weights.
- Hosting & coordinating customer, donor, and investor visitors.
- Annual planning for volumes, capacity and activities
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s and/or master’s degree from reputable university in related field
- Three years of experience working and living in Africa or similar context.
- Knowledge of or previous experience in agriculture, agronomy, or agro-processing
- Experience in finance, accounting, or bookkeeping
- High level of organizational skills
- Ability and willingness to learn and problem-solve independently (required)
- Willingness to live and work in rural areas.
- Patience & sense of humour
