We are an international NGO committed to environmental protection active in almost 100 countries. WWF has a growing conservation Programme in the Republic of Uganda. WWF Uganda Country Office (WWF UCO) works with central and local government agencies, private sector, civil society organizations (CSOs) and the local communities to implement its various conservation programmes on Energy and Climate, Forestry and Wildlife, and Freshwater in Uganda.
Job Summary: The Project Officer – Forests and Biodiversity Officer will support the implementation of actions of Leading the Change Project and the Resilience for People and Biodiversity Project. The job holder will provide technical support for achieving landscape restoration, NBS and nature- based enterprise (NbE) development and implementation with selected Partners for climate resilience and mitigation. In addition, the job holder will provide technical support in strengthening and growing the institutional capacity of organizations and communities involved in forest landscape restoration.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s (honors) degree in environmental studies; climate change and development, Forestry, Rural development, Natural resource management or related field.
- Three years of experience in a related field such as Community livelihoods and Cooperatives, Climate Change, CSO and Institutional Capacity Development, Nature Based Enterprises and Market Linkages. Proven practical experiences supporting field-based nature-based solutions, ecosystem-based adaptation, green enterprises and/or climate change adaptation and mitigation is a must, Good practical GIS capabilities and experience.
- Experience and strong capabilities working in Gender mainstreaming. Experience working in projects with Conflict resolution, Dynamics components Practical Experience and capabilities in developing advocacy plans and following them through for Policy influence and change.
- Experience in community livelihoods linked to Markets, Enterprise Models and Food security.
- Fluency in English and at least one other major language spoken (Swahili, and/or Runyakitara) in the Albertine Graben.
