Focusing on potato and sweetpotato as the entry point, CIP’s programs seek to strengthen broader agri-food systems to generate economic, social and nutritional benefits for farmers, enterprises and consumers emphasizing the priorities of women and youth in particular.
Job Summary: The NUTRI+4AID project is a two-year project (2023-24). Though the project officially commenced in February 2023, the activities will commence in 2024 to recruit an intern. The Gender and Food systems Graduate intern will provide support to the NUTRI+4AID project activities
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Value chain study in Uganda in a humanitarian setting: to estimate the level of quantitative post-harvest losses and nutrient flow through selected crop value chains.
- Storage studies in Uganda: to estimate the level of nutritional changes in quality affected by environmental factors, insect infestation.
- Review conceptual framework on qualitative analysis of crises.
- Interviews to collect data on volume of crops, post-harvest losses and food composition of selected commodities.
- What are the conditions?
- The position is an internship position limited to Uganda nationals and permanent residents only. The internship will be for a period of three months.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- M.Sc or MA (ongoing) in social sciences: Agriculture, Gender studies.
- Gender responsive scientific report writing.
- Data collection and analysis (mixed methods – qualitative data analysis experience is of importance)
- MS computer packages (MS Word, MS Excel, PowerPoint)
- Qualitative data analysis: Atlas or Nvivo
- Quantitative data analysis: Stata
- Understanding of Luganda, Runyakitara and Luo
