Job Summary: We now wish to recruit a competent individual to fill the position of a MEASUREMENT ENGINEER .
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Preparation of necessary Site Instructions after consulting the R.E. and issuing of such Site Instructions when requested to do so
- Works supervision, contract administration and project management. c. Undertake Technical and progress reporting.
- Preparation of employer submittals.
- Monitor the quantities of all pay items routinely and make measurements of all works done as requested by the Contractor Preparation of contractor’s interim payments
- Quality assurance
- Deployment and Supervision of Support staff.
- Cost control and assessment/valuation of variations.
- Pavement/Structural designs, preparation of typical cross section drawings.
- Review and amendment of design drawings.
- Review of contractor shop drawings.
- Custody and supply of drawings and documents.
- To apply and maintain the Contract QA Plan with respect to all work at all levels and ensuring that the Works comply with the specifications in all respects.
- Proactively attend to any actions related to design amendments or design information required by the Contractor or the client. Any uncertainty of these requirements should immediately be discussed with the R.E.
- Assisting the R.E. in identifying potential impediments with respect to both construction and design issues and initiating timely preventive measures.
- Site inspection of contractor’s operations. Will be required to offer support to the laboratory, and specifically the inspector of Works, on all materials, quality and progress related issues.
- Inspection of works to be measured.
- Maintain the Request for Approval system on the project.
- Assistance to other team members with respect to evaluation of results
- and/or comments on the Works and recommendation to the R.E. for action where necessary.
- Liaison with the Client Structures when requested by the R.E.
- Check drawings, plans, calculations, measurements and payment certificates prepared by the Contractor
- Performing any other duties and responsibilities assigned by immediate supervisor in accordance with job roles, company policy, and or prevailing conditions
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Internationally recognized equivalent Chartered Civil Engineer or Registration with an Engineering Professional Organization projects of a similar nature.
- Seven years of post-graduate experience of carrying out road designing and construction supervision with at least 4 years in a similar position on road construction or rehabilitation projects including at least two projects of similar nature.
- 4 years’ relevant experience in developing countries on similar assignments
