Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead, implement and integrate the Employee Relations (ER) Practice agenda. Partner with stakeholders to articulate, align and enable the Employee Relations philosophy, strategy and frameworks across the bank. To support leaders to apply ER practices that build a consistently fair and equitable workplace.
- Provide specialist ER thought leadership, advice, guidance and coaching across the bank to support leaders at all levels to resolve ER issues
- Assist the Head, P&C to align all HR policies and procedures to comply with statutory requirement.
- Consult employees and line managers regarding the Bank’s disciplinary and grievance procedures and other changes of terms and conditions of employment
- Design, develop, lead, and maintain an integrated Employee Relations (ER) philosophy, strategy, plans and processes in collaboration with the Head, P&C and other relevant stakeholders
- Ensure legally compliant and procedurally fair and efficient ER and IR processes that promote good governance and fair outcomes.
- Build a network of external parties and associations and engage with relevant stakeholders (eg Dept. of Labor, law firms, local, regional and international arbitration bodies) to keep abreast of industry and market trends and source relevant business support and intelligence.
- Monitor and ensure compliance to all risk and regulatory requirements e.g. controls to ensure consistency in the formulation of settlements.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Eight years of experience in HR or a related field
- At least 2 – 3 years additional experience within employee relations
- Strong understanding and the application of Uganda laws, particularly labor law in a multi-national organisation.
- Experience creating, revising and implementing policy
- Record of successfully managing and solutioning complex ER issues, managing reputational risk and promoting a fair and constructive workplace environment.
