AIDS Healthcare Foundation is registered in Uganda as AIDS Healthcare Foundation – Uganda Cares (AHF-Uganda Cares) which is collaboration between the Uganda Ministry of Health and AIDS Healthcare Foundation (U.S.A) to provide free HIV and AIDS services; including antiretroviral therapy in resource constrained settings.

 

Job Summary:   This position is based at Tororo Hospital. The Pharmacy Technician is responsible for providing high-quality pharmaceutical services to all our clients. The incumbent shall ensure a timely, accurate, and efficient dispensing process, provide relevant patient advice, and supervise other pharmacy staff as guided by the program

pharmacist.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Receive and verify all pharmaceutical and healthcare supplies.
  • Record all incoming and outgoing inventory transactions.
  • Conduct periodic physical inventory counts to update inventory records and generate inventory utilization reports.
  • Prepare and submit bi-monthly ART commodity orders and reports as per the designated warehouse delivery schedule.
  • Forecast and quantify pharmaceutical supplies to support the management of opportunistic infections and non-communicable diseases (NCDs).
  • Prepare and dispense prescribed ART and TB commodities.
  • Provide appropriate patient counselling to ensure treatment adherence and continuity of care.
  • Support the scale-up of the Community Retail Pharmacy Drug Distribution Point program.
  • Supervise and mentor other healthcare professionals engaged in dispensing medicines.
  • Pharmacovigilance and ADR reporting
  • Monitor patients to identify and report any adverse drug reactions.





Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum of Diploma in Pharmacy or the equivalent obtained from a reputable training institution.
  • Must be registered with the Allied Health Professional Council with a valid annual practicing license.
  • At least two years of work experience in the HIV/AIDS commodity supply chain in Uganda.
  • Knowledge of the National TB and HIV commodity supply chain system is an added advantage.
  • Demonstrable skills in the use of electronic inventory management systems.
