Job Summary: The digital engagement and strategy Officer will be reporting to the Director programs and is responsible for leveraging digital platforms to inspire action and foster community engagement. Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide digital programming expertise and creative input to program project teams as assigned.
- Lead on developing digital strategies for these programs & Campaign, Including setting mobilization objectives of online and offline audiences, designing, and developing tactics and planning comms outputs to ensure engagement objectives are met and programs are won.
- Be responsible for the delivery of these plans – including drafting and building emails, producing, and posting social media content (macros, videos etc.), defining supporter journeys and writing content for the website.
- Unpack complex program issues to create engaging content for a range of purposes including social media, blogs, video scripts and email.
- Contribute to the delivery of our organizational strategy, by ensuring we’re grounding African consciousness in our digital strategies and outputs and actively looking for opportunities to be pan-African in our approach to digital programming – and leveraging digital tools and platforms to do so.
- Develop and coordinate delivery of digital strategies for direct action and other public programming activities, as well as providing remote or on-the-ground support.
- Monitor the health of our digital channels, measuring and increasing engagement across social platforms, WhatsApp, and email as well as by contributing to the website.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, digital media, international relations or related field.
- 1-3 years demonstrated experience
- Knowledge of website development and management principles, including UX/UI best practices.
- Demonstrated experience in crisis management and online reputation management.
- Proficiency in digital marketing strategies, including SEO, SEM, Social media marketing, email marketing, and content marketing
- Experience with digital analytics tools and platforms to track and measure performance (e,g. Google Analytics, Social Media Analytics).
- Strong project management skills to oversee digital campaigns and initiatives from conception to execution.
- Excellent communication skills including ability to convey complex digital concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Proficiency in graphic design and video editing software is desirable.
- Ability to lead and inspire a team while fostering a conducive working environment.
- Adaptability to navigate a complex and dynamic international NGO environment.
- Commitment to advancing the mission and values of the NGO, particularly through innovative digital strategies.
