Job Summary: The Business Health, Safety and Environment Advisor will contribute to improving HSE performance in the organization to ensure an exemplary health and safety culture as well as a strong focus on the environment. The person will support the business by applying in-depth HSE knowledge to offer solutions and advice. He/She will further facilitate delivery of support from the Center of Expertise (CoE) and ensure effective risk management through HSE excellence along the company’s value chain.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Report HSE incidents.
- Feedback on lessons learned and best practice from own unit and across the company to management and employees.
- Report on HSE performance and progress on implementation of the company’s Group sustainability objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs) to as required.
- Implement HSE policies and standards.
- Ensure areas of responsibility are audited according to audit program.
- Assists line managers and supervisors in understanding obligations, liability and how to fulfil their roles, according to local HSE law and the company’s Group policy, instructions and standards
- Facilitate HSE risks assessment by line management involving shop floor employees, i.e. those directly concerned by the hazards, and ensures all processes are implemented.
- Drive behavioral change through implementing Group-wide performance improvement programs and practices locally to ensure an exemplary health and safety culture as well as a strong focus on environment throughout the organization.
- Engage external (e.g. customers, suppliers and other stakeholders) and internal stakeholders in order to report on, raise awareness and gain commitment on company’s HSE efforts and performance and obtain objective feedback.
- Cooperate with other functions, the CoE and business partners to drive performance.
- Ensure appropriate safety equipment and tools are available and used.
- Identify, plan and initiate training needs, e.g. for employees, site managers, and agree with, and ensure delivery of training from the CoE.
- Drive and ensure compliance with Group management systems (e.g. ISO 14001 and ISO 45001).
- Contribute to and/or plan and execute Health (and/or) Safety (and/or) Environment performance and Corporate Responsibility related projects.
- Manage project resources such as manpower, financials and other relevant factors.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in a related field.
- Three years of experience in HSE management.
- Qualification in ISO45001 and ISO14001 internal auditing.
- Fall protection Planner.
- First aid.
- Firefighting/Inspector.
- Risk management training.
- Thorough specialist knowledge of Health, Safety and Environmental management within a large project environment setting.
- Detailed knowledge of legal HSE framework, including OHS Act and associated Regulations.
- HSE management Information Systems.
- Fluent in English is required
