Kyosk Digital Services Limited is a tech-led platform that connects informal retailers who retail in kiosks and other similar retail outlets directly to fast-moving consumer goods companies (FMCGs) by communicating demand from retail outlets directly to FMCGs and their distributors and managing the delivery of the goods to the kiosks. ETG Digital Platforms (Kyosk) is building the future of the retail of everyday essentials and access to financial services in Africa, starting from Kenya.
Job Summary: This role is located under the direct supervision of the Country General Manager and is the driver of new revenue streams through championing growth projects, proactively seeking out new business opportunities, industry insight application and market knowledge. The Business Development manager is a member of the senior management team and is responsible for delivering and attaining assigned revenue targets, directs the execution of the growth strategies, go-to-market plan, including forecasting revenue in line with growth initiatives, partnering for growth and proactively always seeking out for business opportunities, works closely with senior management of third-party providers and duuka as a primary focus to drive growth.
The Business Development Manager (BDM) works closely with members of the leadership team, who are key stakeholders in partnering and driving business growth. Externally, the job holder is responsible and is expected to work closely with third-party partners, suppliers, local financiers/Agencies.
The job holder will be required to work in the office and field across all country specific markets and may require travelling from time to time. They may frequently be away from home overnight depending on the size of operation. The job holder works within parameters agreed by; Kyosk Global CEO/Board, In Country Managing Director/GM, Kyosk country business, while working closely with global heads of department, global strategy & data, who provide a high level of cross functional support.
Job Summary: The Business development manager is responsible for driving business growth, researching new market opportunities, forging third party partnerships, leading key projects as assigned including crafting strategy, planning and execution within the agreed framework, has key influence on business profitability and long-term sustainability. The job holder is a single point of contact for all new business lines and strategic initiatives/projects as may be assigned. He/she is tasked with promoting collaboration across departments, other third-party partners among others.
The role directs, controls, motivates and builds capacity for the project operations to achieve agreed growth KPIs, product/services expansion and implementation, Application adoption, leverages various analytic methods to determine additional value-added services/products, define targeted promotions, recruitment campaigns and retention through effective management of 3Ps and other key stakeholders.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute business growth strategies-leveraging analytics and data optimization, as well as defining compelling propositions to unlock new business opportunities, and attainment of business set targets and Kyosk conversion goals.
- Market analysis-conduct market research to identify key sales drivers specific to the different assigned projects and validate growth opportunities.
- Product and services development and expansion of growth opportunities: Input & influence product & Tech roadmap, new features including customer experience, app enhancements through market and competitor research:
- Lead user experience and influence customer journey.
- Deliver strategic decisions about on-boarding offers and promotions.
- Product bundling and cross-selling leveraging data

- Oversee customer led revenue growth- development of customer facing business cases for adoption & localization in product design, pricing, offerings and make strong recommendation.
- Define clear customer experience tactics and plans to better achieve desired customer retention in collaboration with Global strategy & BI, improve customer service and pro-actively manage continuous feedback.
- Collaborate with strategy and BI.
- Continuously update customer segmentation leveraging global strategy output.
- Monitor and maintain retention and customer loyalty programs to increase revenue and reduce churn.
Stakeholder Management:
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders and global operations & strategy, to understand the technology, product and operational needs of the execution of the sales initiatives.
- Build and maintain strong partnerships and relationships with key industry influencers and other service providers.
- Deep understanding of customers (kiosks) and end consumers (community) to drive sales, product & service enhanced, embed data driven insights and decisions.
- Third party management (3P)-Establish key relationships with 3P providers through agreed frameworks, while ensuring best value for money through-
- Articulate and hold partners to account of Kyosk value proposition.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, statistics, marketing or demonstrable experience as a strategy consultant in a reputable firm
- At least ten (7) years of experience across the sales, supply chain management, distribution and retail of FMCG products, FinTech, or 5 years at senior leadership/Executive level
- Proven track record and sound knowledge of both commercial and strategy with excellent understanding of commercial drivers for tech led businesses, sales forecasting, pricing, among others.
- Strong experience in managing large teams of people across multiple projects &/or business units;
- Strong local knowledge of the market, a deep understanding of consumers/customers and a strong commercial acumen.
- The ideal candidate should be an entrepreneurial leader with great people management and organizational skills.
- Strong analytical skills with a demonstrable ability to capture and communicate projections as well as to model out various scenarios.
- A hands-on, empathetic and results-oriented approach to leadership and people management; and a ‘no-excuses’, ‘just do it’ approach to getting things done.
