About Diageo:
Uganda Breweries Limited (UBL) is a subsidiary of EABL who owns 98.2% of UBL and 100% of IDU. Diageo in turn own 50.03% of EABL. UBL operates within a multi-cultural, multi-national environment. UBL is further categorized into Demand and Supply functions. The Supply business focuses on the production of beer and spirits. The Demand business is involved in marketing and selling the product through RTM partners and retailers to consumers.
Job Summary: The Brand Manager works closely with Relevant Marketing manager for planning and implementation of brand Marketing Business Plans; with sales team to ensure that field activities are in line with brand strategies; Consumer Planning & Research for provision of up to date research on brands; Global Brand Teams for brand strategy and best practice; Advertising and Experiential Agencies for effective and compelling brand communication; Media agency/Media houses for effective and efficient brand communication; Group procurement for prompt availability of quality materials and at budgeted cost; Finance for cost/budget controls and brands profitability; Production department for monitoring product quality and availability and PR agencies for enhancing brands image.
The incumbent will foster brand growth and development by overseeing brand health, aiming to reach targeted volume, market share, and profit goals. Additionally, to strategize and execute effective marketing initiatives for the brands.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop, execute, and oversee annual strategic brand plans, managing allocated budgets effectively.
- Proactively monitor brand availability, sales, and factors influencing market performance.
- Identify and propose market research programs to bolster brand positioning.
- Analyze market research data, including secondary sources, and adjust brand strategies accordingly.
- Manage brand advertising and sales promotions to foster growth.
- Recommend, plan, and coordinate brand PR activities to enhance short and long-term sales and image.
- Monitor competitor activities and take corrective measures as needed.
- Evaluate and recommend updates to brand packaging, including extensions, in collaboration with the Marketing Manager.
- Continuously monitor brand costs and profitability, suggesting areas for enhancement.
- Prepare monthly brand expenditure reports and variance analysis to manage budgeted spending.
- Develop and execute brand media strategies.
- Gather market intelligence through regular trade visits to inform brand activities.
- Design, procure, and distribute brand promotional materials efficiently according to plan.
- Engage with Regional Brand liaisons to update on the implementation of brand strategic plans.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold a Bachelor of Commerce Marketing or business degree or equivalent
- At least four years of marketing experience preferably in a FMCG environment.
- Marketing management experience
- Experienced in the development and execution of advertising strategies.
