Job Title:  Design Assistant (A’ Level Jobs)

KOBTA Publishers is the leading publishing house in primary school literacy literature and nursery workbooks with over 30 approved titles by the National Center for Curriculum Development (NCDC).

Job Summary:  To meet the increasing demand for our books, KOBTA Publishers seeks to hire a qualified and experienced Design Assistant to carry out the following duties and responsibilities:

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Make identified corrections to typed manuscripts as required by the supervisor.
• Typeset the books to ensure the proper fonts, font sizes, styling, etc. are applied to the books.
• Lay out the books to ensure proper spacing and alignment.
• Design illustrations to be used in the books.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:  The ideal candidate for this job should have the following:

• A minimum of Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE)
• Five years of experience typing, typesetting, book laying, and graphic designing.
• A keen eye with razor sharp attention to detail.
• Fluent in written English.
• Experienced in Microsoft Office packages, especially Word.
• Experienced in using Adobe InDesign, illustrator, and Photoshop.
